Our Creators are Finalists for SD Magazine Celebrating Women 2017!

The San Diego Magazine has chosen two of our own as finalists for Celebrating Women 2017! Nisha Wendelken and Dr. Tammy Duggan-Herd are in the running for a chance to win the Rising Star award, an award created to honor women who are on the rise and making an impact in their careers. And who better to pick for this award than these two accomplished business women!

Nisha the Octopus Operations Manager

Nisha began her career early starting as the Executive Assistant of a marketing agency at 18, becoming a certified CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) at 23, and then hired to take over company operations as the operations manager at 24. Throughout her career she has implemented systems enabling the hiring of over 15 employees. She also rebuilt the operational foundations of the companies Business on Market St., Deep Root Digital, and Campaign Creators allowing for new stages of growth.

In addition to those accomplishments, she assisted in the operational beginnings and growth of an inbound marketing nonprofit, SD Inbound, which is currently the largest inbound organization in San Diego. She has also become an integral player in establishing an association for operation professionals in San Diego in order to give those working in operations a place to talk about their careers, ideas, and exchange words of advice.

Nisha is known as an Octopus at her company because it seems that her hands are in everything, in a very good way. Whenever someone has a question she is the go-to knowledge source. She has a uncanny ability to manage multiple projects at once and succeed in every new challenge she takes on.

Tammy the Magnificent Marketing Manager

Tammy excelled rapidly in the marketing space, contributing industry-changing ideas utilizing her background (PhD) in applied social psychology. She is a great mentor who always puts 110% into her job and freely admits to mistakes in order to better herself in the future.

One of her major accomplishments is the launch of a brand new marketing agency, the still-growing Campaign Creators, raising the agency from a point of zero public awareness to an established name in the San Diego marketing community. She attained her management role at the inbound marketing company, Campaign Creators, in less than one year in the industry and has provided a full-time mentorship program for 3-5 students per semester. Additionally, she has been sought out for her expertise by professional marketing groups, including SD Inbound Marketing, with whom she conducted a webinar, and San Diego AMA, for whom she appeared in a podcast.

In her spare time, she advises fellow PhD graduates on how to make a career moves out of academics and into the field of business & industry through her work with Versatile PhD. Tammy also volunteers her time to teach free implicit bias courses for organizations like Riverside County Bar Association, Riverside Youth Court, and Bayview Behavioral Health Hospital.

A big congratulations to Nisha and Tammy for all of their hard work, determination, and passion that got them to where they are today. We are beyond excited to see that these women have been chosen as finalists along with many other inspiring, hardworking ladies and look forward to seeing the results of the Celebrating Women awards on September 26th!
